An Introduction to FCF (Sheet Forging) Methodologies

Generally speaking, over time two different press metalforming methodologies have been developed and utilized in production within a wide range of industrial fields. The first is sheet metalforming, where metal sheets are used as the raw material to form parts, and the second is forging metalforming, where cylindrical raw material cut from round bar stock is formed into parts.
However, together with the ever-increasing precision and functionality of parts in recent years, the number of parts that have become difficult to produce using just one forming methodology has also been increasing. The forming methodology that combines sheet and forging metalforming and leverages the technological advantages of both is the FCF (flow control forming--i.e., 'sheet forging') methodology.
