An Introduction to Press Sheet Metalforming

Sheet metalforming is a methodology where sheet material is formed by displacing the material along the surface of the sheet. Using this forming methodology, the plastic flow of the material is minimal and the requisite shape is primarily formed through the application of tensile stresses. Though it is possible to achieve net shape forming of high-precision, high value-added products using minimal forming stresses, this method is not suited for products that have shapes requiring different material thicknesses or shapes that have edges.
