In the 90 years since its inception, AIDA has continued to focus on “Forming.” Our goal is to become the premier company in the forming system field, particularly the metalforming field. We have concentrated on developing various types of forming systems, automated devices, industrial robots, and processes. We intend to promote the further advancement of our business as a “strong forming system builder” by continuously maintaining our capability to develop, manufacture, and service our products.
The forming systems that we develop and manufacture are basically “customized products’ created by careful planning in order to meet the specific needs of our customers. The demand trends of these products are largely influenced by the worldwide economic climate, exchange rate fluctuations, and the market conditions of major industries such as automotive and consumer electronics, which mostly create the demand. We intend to become a permanent and continually expanding business by developing a stable infrastructure which is not easily influenced by changes. To reach this goal, we have established overseas manufacturing facilities in four industrially advanced areas of the world (the US, Europe, China, and Southeast Asia) in order to maintain the reliability and stability required by our customers. In accordance with our medium-term management plan we are currently developing various effective strategies to strengthen our business infrastructure.

In recent years, over 80% of the consolidated net sales of the AIDA Group comes from the sale of products such as press machines and auxiliary press equipment, and the remaining sales come from maintenance and repair services. About 70 percent of the product sales come from automotive-related industries, about 20 percent from consumer electronics and electronic component industries, and the rest from various other industries. A wide range of products and parts are manufactured by presses. For example, the body, chassis, engine parts, drive parts, as well as motor parts for a hybrid car are manufactured using presses. In the consumer electronics and electronic components fields, presses are used to manufacture the chassis and IC lead frames on flat-panel TVs, various terminals (connectors), HDD parts, and various types of motors. Presses are also utilized in the manufacture of eyeglass frames and even coins, and contribute to a broad spectrum of manufacturing industries.
As a specialized forming system builder, we intend to take full advantage of the general versatility of press forming, and we will continue to provide technologies and services to meet the needs of community without confining ourselves to a specific industry or business.
Presses explained in easy-to-understand terms
In the field of industrial machines such as press machines, revolutionary technological innovations do not necessarily emerge every year. On the other hand, the requirements for the accuracy and quality of press-formed parts keep increasing year after year. In order to open a new frontier in press processing, AIDA has developed revolutionary products based on wholly unconventional concepts, and has introduced them to the market as our future core products. The “Direct Servo Former Series” has a direct drive mechanism equipped with a low-speed high-torque servo motor developed independently by AIDA that allows full control of forming speeds and motions. This mechanism also enables the high-efficiency and high-precision forming of difficult-to-process materials, such as high-tensile steel sheets and magnesium alloys.
The “UL Series*” has a unique and original highly rigid 9-point support construction that cannot be found in the products of other companies. It features the ability to rigidly maintain its dynamic accuracy even in eccentric loading situations encountered during complicated forming processes, and thus it has been introduced to automotive component manufacturing processes which require particularly high precision. As a result, this machine has not only achieved a superior degree of product accuracy, it has also enabled longer die (tooling) life. Because die investments often exceed the price of the press, these presses have been attracting attention because of their significant cost-saving features.
*This is marketed under the brand name “ULX” in North America and Europe.
We will continue to focus our efforts on developing systems and processes which will enable us to manufacture a wide range of products--products large and small, and products with high hardnesses and complex shapes. AIDA promises to deliver systems with “better quality and improved efficiency that are cost-effective and provide eco-friendly manufacturing.”
